Bihar faced adverse flood this year with 19 areas affected by floods in  Bihar and the death toll has reached 514. The affected districts in Bihar are Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Eastern Champaran, Western Champaran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sitamdhi, Shivar, Samastipur, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa and Khagaria.


This happened due to heavy rains in Nepal which caused a sudden unpredicted water discharge in catchment areas of rivers in North Bihar like  Baghmati , Kamla, Kosi, Mahananda, Gandak and Burhi Gandak.


In many regions, people are forced to live on the street. In many regions like Mohammedpur village in Muzaffarpur District, using a boat is the only option left for reach some adversely affected villages.


The organizations in the relief operation were National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Army personnel.
